Digg Uproar: The Rebirth of Zaibatsu

Today I came across a Mixx Article by the former number 3 user of Digg, Zaibatsu, entitled “I Was Banned From Digg and For a Pretty Lame Reason - F*ck Digg Long Live Mixx“. As you may recall Digg banned Zaibatsu this past week because be allegedly linked to a place called “Jackie’s Jungle“, which Digg claimed was a spam site.

Zaibatsu, a long time user of Digg, apparently posted a link to Jackie’s site and remarked about her being “Hot“, as well as a “Digger” too. The item submitted was either reported as Spam by a member of Digg or someone who works at Digg noticed the submitted item, the result ended up the same — Zaibatsu was banned.

Zaibatsu claims that he was banned for ‘a pretty lame reason‘, I have no reason to disbelieve him for it is my opinion that Digg is not exactly adept in the art of proper forum management. It’s true that the majority of people who were banned by Digg were banned because they violated the Digg TOS, but at the same time there are enough who were banned for some pretty lame reasons.

There are now questions circulating about Zaibasu, on his Mixx article he made the statement “Long Live Mixx”. In addition on a blog post over at Keywebdata, Zaibatsu replied to a blog post entitled “Zaibatsu banned from Digg” by saying:

#2 Comment by zaibatsu — September 21, 2008 @ 1:29 am

I will not go quietly into the night.”

These statements give rise to some questions about Zaibatsu and Digg. Questions come to mind, such as:

Even if Digg makes an apology and reinstates his account, Is Zaibatsu done with Digg for Good?

What are his plans for the future, is Zaibatsu going to concentrate on Mixx from this point in time?

What effects will this have on Digg, will the friends of Zaibatsu follow him and create a New Digg?

In light of not having Zaibatsu around to answer these, and other, questions… we can only guess.
