Facebook Connect
The Buzz concerning Facebook Connect has been around for months, but this morning it seems that Facebook Connect took another step forward towards the realm of becoming a reality.
I am about to make a new “Bestest Buddy” because this morning I was cruising around on the net and found a new Facebook Group called Facebook Connect. The group is new, but if the group grows and continues the way it’s going, then it can be a place where I can get a ton of information for future blog articles. I absolutely love people who supply me with ideas for blog posts.
On that site I found a link to a Techcrunch article entitled “Zuckerberg: Facebook Connect will be delayed for “months” that I might have missed if it wasn’t for my “goofing off”. Now, I have to admit, that when I first saw the Facebook Group I assumed it was telling me that Facebook Connect was finally released in it’s ‘final form’. That assumption was an error on my part, apparently, for one of the first “Discussions” concerned Mr. Zuckerberg’s article on Techcrunch stating:
“After previously hinting that that Facebook Connect would be coming shortly after early to mid-October Mark Zuckerburg said on stage at FOWA today that the official, out of beta, launch was still “months” away. Unlike the fairly quick launch of the F8 platform, he said they were going for an “extended beta”.
When asked by Ryan Carson on stage at FOWA when Connect would arrive, Zuckerburg said: “We hope just as soon as possible. Some time in the next few months.”
At the present time there is a site called “The Insider” that is a live version of the Facebook Connect, go check it out. This gives rise to the question of “Is this the next step in Facebook Connect Beta, or is it Facebook Live?” The answer to that one is “Unknown”, but odds are that it may be just Facebook Connect’s next step in the process.
While Cruising the net looking for an answer, I ran across an article called “How You Can Rock Digg and Why You Should”. The article states:
“When Digg and FaceBook both embrace and roll out the full release of FaceBook Connect as I believe it is now being called, you will see a huge influx of new users from FaceBook on Digg.”
I was also lucky enough to hit this site when a new blog post was published. The blog article was only about 3 minutes old and is called “Facebook Connect and theInsider Connect Facebook Friends”. This article states:
“After Facebook Connect took a big chance by dumping Google FriendConnect and going it alone, most of us thought it was a big mistake. But now, with the first full release of Facebook Connect on theInsider.com has hit what I believe a home run.”
The article goes on to tell about the things found on the “Insider.com” site (the link to this was given previously) and plenty of screenshots were posted. It is explained in the article that Facebook Connect will have two major effects upon the world of Social Content sites, they are:
1. Your friends list is portable
2. You can make even more new, fresh and responsive friends on Digg thru Facebook Connect.
The one thing I loved about this article is that near the end you are urged to go play with the Friend Connect site at Insider.Com and reach your own conclusions about the possibilities this brings to you and others. Everyone has ‘things to do” and they have “lives outside the net”, there are certain things we all have to do and we can’t postpone them because of Facebook, Digg or any other site – even if we wanted to do so. If this Facebook Connect allows people to manage their time on either site more efficiently, then perhaps they would spend more time on these sites in the long run.
Hey, it could happen, can’t it? LoL
